Mary Cressler, wine food and travel writer and publisher of Vindulge, is putting the finishing touches on a cookbook called Fire and Wine: 75 wood-fired recipes and wine pairings inspired by the Pacific Northwest, published by Sasquatch Books out of Seattle. In Mary’s words: “It’s going to be full of stories of cooking at wineries throughout Oregon and Washington (though mostly OR), and each recipe will have a general wine pairing (specific producers will be mentioned in some of the stories, but not in the actual recipe pairings, so as not to date the book)…The book is going to have a mix of lifestyle shots in vineyards and at our events, as well as 50 styled finished plated dishes. Wine will be an important character to have in many of the photos, and I’m hoping to have a mix of wines and styles from throughout the PNW for the photos.”
She’ll be conducting the photoshoot for 50 of the recipes with a professional photographer in April, and will need wine samples from across the state that can be used in the photos. Ideally she’d like a general mix of wines from the Willamette Valley, Southern Oregon, The Gorge and and also Eastern Oregon from AVAs including The Rocks. Wines will need to arrive prior to April 5, 2019 for organization and planning.
