Submissions needed for Hugh Johnson’s Pocket Wine Book – 2021

For the third consecutive year, Paul Gregutt will be writing the Oregon section for Hugh Johnson’s Pocket Wine Book – 2021. The 2020 edition is just now coming out. For the 2019 edition, Paul cleaned up a significant amount of outdated and/or missing material, and for 2020, he was able to add in a number of very important wineries that were missing, which he did based on extensive tastings of Oregon wines for Wine Enthusiast over many years.

For 2021, he hopes to continue to expand and improve the Oregon entries. This is the most-read, most-influential pocket guide to the wines of the world. It’s been published annually since 1977, and is a hardcover book sold around the globe. Though space is severely limited, he works hard to be as inclusive as possible yet cannot guarantee that any given winery will automatically be included.

Paul asks: For the Hugh Johnson guide, all Oregon wineries are invited to send me as many wines as they wish, including back vintages if I’ve not tasted them, and write a simple note indicating that these are for the 2021 Hugh Johnson’s Pocket Wine Book. IF they want Wine Enthusiast reviews also, they should include the W/E Submission form (below). If they have already been submitting wines regularly, they should not re-submit wines as I already have them in my database.

He’d like to receive all submissions for the Pocket Guide by October 15, 2019.

Ship to:
230 West Street
Waitsburg, WA   99361
Phone (for shipper):   206-849-7999

When shipping wines, send two bottles if possible. PLEASE – NO STYROFOAM!

Any additional technical information you can provide will make your reviews more complete:  tech sheets,  your notes on blends, barrels, vineyards, retail pricing, case quantities, release date(s), etc.
