From Clive Pursehouse, US Editor and Oregon & Washington Correspondent for Decanter Magazine:
Decanter is again doing a US-focused issue for May, and that will include a Panel Tasting of US Merlot.
As always, our Panel Tastings are guided by a panel of UK-based experts. With blind tastings, sometimes surprises happen, so please consider your openness to this possibility before deciding to participate. The Panel Tasting location is still in London, so the wines will need to arrive by January 31st to be considered. The Panel Tasting criteria and online form, which is required to be completed before the wines arrive in London are below.
You can find the most recent Southern Oregon report in Decanter here.
Criteria for entry, and please fill out Decanter’s online form before submitting your samples to arrive by January 31, 2024:
● Merlot wine from any recognized American appellation
● Wine must meet 75% Merlot if the wine is blended with other varieties per US regulations for varietal designation
● Wine must be a “current release.” note: wine does not need to be available in the UK
