Call for Wine: Wine Enthusiast seeks all Oregon varieties with new tasting format

Sean Sullivan, now at the helm of tasting Oregon wines for Wine Enthusiast, has successfully lobbied the magazine to change from publishing Oregon reviews every other issue to now publishing Oregon reviews in every issue. This means more exposure for all Oregon wines with a new flexible schedule:

Sean Sullivan, Wine Enthusiast

With this change, wineries will have two options when sending in wines:

  1. If winemakers would like a review to be in a specific date window of the magazine, for whatever reason, they can adhere to the “Samples due by” date on this schedule.

    OR

  2. If winemakers would like the wine to be tasted as soon as possible and appear in whatever issue of the magazine it might land, they can ignore this schedule completely and simply send Sean the wines when they are ready.

Here is the Buying Guide Tasting Schedule for Oregon wines for 2022 for Wine Enthusiast: 2022 Buying Guide Tasting Schedule

Said Sean: I taste on an on-going basis, where a group of wines that was received first is tasted first and then what was received next is tasted next. Each month I have a deadline to enter reviews into the database. That date is  roughly about a month after the “Samples due by” date listed on this schedule, to allow me time to receive and taste the wines and get the scores entered into the database.

Please let me know if you have any questions. I hope that this change will be an improvement for all, make the process easier to understand, and get reviews out as quickly as possible.

You can find the Wine Enthusiast submission form here.

If you are at all concerned with timing or weather in relation to your wine shipment, please email Sean Sullivan at [email protected] to confirm your shipment can be received.
