Announcing the 2017 Oregon Wine Month Reps of the Year

After extensive deliberation, the Oregon Wine Board would like to congratulate the 2017 Oregon Wine Month Rep of the Year Award winners: Brad Hammond of Young’s Market Co. and Margo Durdel of Oregon Brand Management!

On-Premise: Brad Hammond, Young’s Market Co.

“’For the 2017 Oregon Wine Month, my objective was to spread the love and the word about Oregon wines,” Brad wrote in a personal statement attached to his Rep of the Year nomination. His passion paid off, resulting in 10 restaurant accounts featuring Oregon Wine Month and an impressive 23% growth in Oregon sales compared to last May. In addition to pounding the pavement, Brad also strategically coordinated with his accounts throughout the Portland Airport to create an Oregon Wine Month experience for visitors passing through Portland from all over the world. Selling isn’t Brad’s sole focus. He also takes times to educate his colleagues and buyers about Oregon wine. One of his buyers at the Portland airport submitted a nomination citing Brad as “the most valuable rep for me while learning about the Oregon wine industry.” Leading up to Oregon Wine Month, he prepared an informal presentation on the Chehalem Mountains AVA for his colleagues at Young’s.

Off-Premise: Margo Durdel, Oregon Brand Management

Margo has earned the nickname “Oregon Wine Month Dynamo” amongst her colleagues at Oregon Brand Management for good reason. Throughout the course of May, Margo sampled 84 bottles of wine at over 20 tastings in Whole Foods, New Seasons, Zupan’s, Fred Meyer and other smaller retailers across the city. Additionally, she secured an impressive amount of stackers at multiple retailers across the city for a diverse set of Oregon wine brands both big and small. Margo’s Oregon wine hustle resulted in her sales increasing 17% compared to last May.

Brad and Margo won a VIP package to the International Pinot Noir Celebration including tickets to the Counter Culture event on Thursday, IPNC and accommodations for themselves and a guest.

Thank you to Brad, Margo and all of the other nominated sales reps for your hard work leading up to and through May.
