State of Oregon DTC – Part One: Key Wine Industry Trends

Winery DTC sales continue to drive business profitability for most wineries.  Join Lesley Berglund from WISE for our annual update on the key DTC trends most important to the Oregon wine industry.

Chris Hughye from Enolytics will share the latest DTC consumer and sales trends by varietal, price point and market.  This session will provide a 10,000 foot level perspective that will help inform winery DTC strategy going forward.

 

Speakers Bio

Lesley Berglund is an accomplished wine industry entrepreneur and CEO with a focus on change management. Over the past 30 years in the wine industry she has started up the equivalent of nine new businesses, acquired and integrated four companies and led during periods of dramatic change. As co-founder and former CEO of the Ambrosia Wine Catalogue / the Winetasting Network (which she sold in 2004) she has deep experience in consumer direct marketing of fine wines. Lesley has served on the board of eleven wine-related companies and trade associations. In 2008, she co-founded the WISE Academy, which provides education, training and certification for winery consumer direct professionals across wine regions throughout the United States and in New Zealand. In 2014 she co-founded SOLVE Services which provides financial analysis, planning and decision support services for wineries. Today she spends most of her time coaching winery leaders through growth related challenges and opportunities. Beyond wine, Lesley is a member of the YPO where she has held numerous local, regional and international board and leadership positions. Lesley is also a third-generation Napa Valley native from a grape growing family, with a B.A. from Wesleyan University and a MBA from Harvard Business School.
Chris Huyghe, prior to co-founding Enolytics in 2016, Chris was a successful senior executive in the healthcare industry. A nuclear physicist by training, he began his career at Saint John’s General Hospital in Bruges, Belgium overseeing radiation treatments to patients with cancer. He moved to the US in 1997and joined IMPAC Medical Systems where he held positions as director of client services and Vice President of Order Fulfillment. After the 2005 Acquisition of IMPAC by Elekta, Chris became the Senior Vice President of Operations for Elekta Inc., leading a team of 400 professionals, responsible for almost $500 million in revenue. During his tenure as SVP of Operations, Chris discovered that advanced data analytics and business intelligence were key factors to the accelerated growth of his business unit. Today he leads the Operations and Service teams at Enolytics, applying his executive experience to accelerate the success of our clients. You’ll find his thumbprint throughout our solutions, particularly in regard to finance and strategy. He is spearheading the industry leading quarterly and annual DTC Impact Reports and is an expert on the state of the Wine DTC industry.
