Futurist, author and entrepreneur Steve Brown, a technologist and self-confessed wine-lover, reviews how consumer demands are shifting and how technology can help the wine industry reinvent the way it sells, markets and even makes wine in the future. From electronic sommeliers and new ways to tell your story to computer-aided blending, Steve brings some new ideas and explains how technology could be used to make wine more accessible to consumers in the future.

Speaker Bios

Steve Brown is a futurist, author, entrepreneur and executive consultant with over 30 years of experience in high tech. Prior to building his own consulting practice, he was Intel’s chief evangelist and worked in Intel Labs as a futurist. Steve helps companies to be more prepared for the future: to be more resilient, more innovative and more profitable. He helps leaders to improve their technology acumen, create thoughtful digital strategies and to understand the profound impact technology will have on their business five, 10 and 15 years from now. He is the author of “The Innovation Ultimatum: How Six Strategic Technologies will Reshape Every Business in the 2020s,” a how-to guide on innovation and digital transformation. Steve is also the co-founder of The Provenance Chain Network, a business designed to bring transparency to global commerce. He holds Bachelor of Science and Master of Engineering degrees in micro-electronic systems engineering from Manchester University. He was born in the U.K. and lives with his wife in Portland, Oregon.
Donna Morris is the owner of Winderlea Vineyard & Winery in Dundee. She is also the 2021 chair of the Oregon Wine Board and chair of the OWB marketing committee. Donna established Winderlea in 2006 with her husband, Bill Sweat, with whom she shares management and day-to-day operational responsibilities. Donna’s primary business focus is sales and marketing for their certified BCorp and Demeter Biodynamic® winery specializing in the limited production of Pinot noir and Chardonnay from their estate and farmed vineyards. In addition to her responsibilities at Winderlea, Donna was an 8-year board member and past president of Oregon Pinot Camp and the Dundee Hills Winegrowers Association. She is also a past chair of the iSalud! Pinot noir Auction which provides the funds for healthcare services to Oregon’s vineyard workers and their families. Prior to establishing Winderlea, Donna was a senior executive at Fidelity Investments for 25 years. she is a graduate of Boston College where she earned a B.A. in economics and political science in 1981.
