Oregon wine grape production was down 22 percent in 2010. Production of grapes from Oregon vineyards fell to 31,200 tons, the lowest level since 2005. Decreased wine grape production was attributed to a variety of reasons including poor fruit set for some growers, a very cool growing season, mold, birds, and deer. The average yield per harvested acre was down to 1.85 tons. Planted acreage in 2010 increased to over 20,000 acres for the first time.
