The Evenstad Center for Wine Education at Linfield University – What is Happening in the Wine Program

This session will share the vision, mission, strategic priorities and what differentiates the Linfield Wine Program from others around the country and world. The moderator and leader of the panel will be Tim Matz, the Domaine Serene Chair and Director of The Evenstad Center for Wine Education.  Panelists will include Dr. Jennifer Madden, the Dean of the School of Business, Dr. Joe Wilferth, the Dean of the School of Arts and Science, Toni Ketrenos, the primary Instructor in the Wine program, and a student of the program.

Speaker Bios

Tim Matz has over 30 years of extensive experience in the beverage alcohol industry, both Wine and Spirits, and food industries including executive leadership, general management, sales and marketing in both the domestic and international markets. He has been in senior leadership roles at the CEO or President level over the last 18 years with Treasury Wine Estates, Jackson Family Wines, Foley Family Wines, Accolade Wines, and Zonin USA, Inc. As an Executive in this industry, Matz has held Board, Officer, and Legal positions within many of these companies.

Having started his career at Brown Forman for the first 14 years, Matz has worked for public corporations, private equity, and private owners, all three different business models. His strategic leadership has involved startups, aggressive growth, and turn around opportunities in which favorable results were achieved through restructures, clear visions, missions, and plans that build a sustainable team environment. Having worked in many disciplines and overseen all aspects of companies, Matz can add value in many aspects of any organization.

Matz holds a Master of Business Administration in General Management as well as a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing. He has co-authored two books, Wine, a Global Business, which has been published and sold in the USA and Japan. Matz has served on industry boards and been a speaker at industry functions.
