As we ease into summer, we want to take a moment to thank you for helping make Oregon Wine Month 2025 a success! From tasting room experiences and retail activations to social media buzz and national media placements, your efforts helped shine a spotlight on Oregon wine in powerful and exciting ways.

Looking ahead, we’re focused on how we can better serve you year-round. To help us do that, we’ve launched a brief Industry Survey and we’d love your input. Your feedback will guide some important updates we’re working on, including improvements to this newsletter and our broader industry communications.

Register for 2025 Smoke Summit (virtual) | July 15, 11am-1pm

The 2025 Smoke Summit, produced by the West Coast Smoke Exposure Task Force, will take place Tuesday, July 15 from 11am-1pm. Register here for this free virtual event that brings together researchers, industry leaders, and stakeholders to share the latest science and strategies surrounding wildfire smoke exposure in winegrapes and wine production.

This new toolkit provides links to information for both employers and employees.

Research

OWB awards six grants for scientific research

Last month, OWB Directors approved funding for six scientific research projects as recommended by the OWB’s Research Committee. These projects address OWB’s strategic research aim of “championing the continuous improvement of Oregon’s capacity to produce world-class wines.” Total awards of more than $350,000 will support the continuation of five ongoing research projects and one new project to start in the upcoming fiscal year beginning July 1. West Coast Smoke Exposure Task Force: Newsletter and Mailing List Signup

The first issue of the West Coast Smoke Exposure Task Force’s (WCSETF) newsletter is available to download here. Cork Collective

The Cork Collective is a national cork recycling initiative that allows Oregon wineries to support sustainability by placing a free collection bin at their location, turning used natural corks into materials for eco-friendly projects like playgrounds. Email [email protected] to join, with free shipping offered for the first three months to the first 10 participating wineries.

The Oregon Wine Industry Marketplace is a resource that Oregon wine industry members are encouraged to use to make connections. List or browse items for sale, such as grapes, bulk wine, real estate, and equipment, and post or browse job opportunities or business services. It’s free and easy to list using this short form.

Wine Club Pick-up Event Venue Opportunity

Elephants Delicatessen in South Portland has event space available for wineries that are looking to host pick-up events for their wine club members. Standard capacity is approximately 100 to 150 people. Full details about the event space and contact information can be found here.

Budget Planning

OWB FY25-26 Budget Process and Timeline

As we close out our current fiscal year and finalize programming for next year, we are working on budget revisions for FY25-26. A draft of proposed revisions will be posted on our website on July 14 in the Annual Business Plan Toolkit.

We greatly value the input of all OWB stakeholders and invite you to join us Tuesday, July 22 at 2 pm to review the draft budget revisions and provide input. Add the meeting to your calendar.

The Board of Directors will vote on budget revisions at the August 8 meeting.

If you would like to have a more in-depth discussion, please reach out to OWB’s Chief Financial Officer, Sally Crawford. The Annual Business Plan Toolkit includes timelines, dates, budgets, industry input form, meeting registration links, and recordings of public presentations.
