Viticulture Intern – A to Z Wineworks

April 22, 2021 | Job Opportunities

CompanyA to Z Wineworks
Company TypeWinery and Vineyard
CategoryVineyard
DescriptionA to Z Wineworks is looking to hire two viticulture interns for the 2021 season. One role will be for candidates who have previous work experience and will have a start date in mid-May. The other role will be for entry-level candidates and will have a start date in mid-June. Both paid seasonal positions will run through mid-October. We value individuals who share our values of working hard, working smart and enjoying what they do. You will work with two seasoned Viticulturists who are passionate about their craft and willing to share knowledge. They’ll provide tasks and projects that will strengthen your understanding of viticulture practices. You will have the opportunity to learn more about farming quality wine grapes across Oregon while contributing to the 2021 vintage with REX HILL and A to Z Wineworks.

Responsibilities of this position include vineyard reporting, sampling plant tissue and soil, tracking phenology and weather, scouting for pests and disease, collecting data, and preparing yield estimations. You’ll have the opportunity to implement and collect data for vineyard experiments, and will assist the teams with harvest sampling, lab processing, and daily vineyard tasks.

This seasonal role is ideal for someone who desires a career in a viticulture-related profession. We value prior knowledge of viticulture, and an understanding of sustainable vineyard farming practices. Above all, you must bring to this position a deep interest in the field of viticulture, and the willingness and ability to learn quickly.

You’ll need to commit to a flexible schedule, which will almost certainly include long hours, overtime and weekend work. You’ll need the ability to stand and move for at least 10 hours, to work outdoors in varying terrain and weather, and to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. This position requires computer proficiency in MS Office, Google Earth and database applications. You’ll need a current, valid driver’s license and insurance, reliable transportation, and the ability to travel to and from vineyards in a variety of locations.

Fluency in Spanish is a plus. We value curious, hard workers and effective communicators, who thrive in a team environment and are eager to pitch in wherever needed.

Due to the ongoing pandemic and visa restrictions, we are unable to consider those who do not currently have work authorization in the U.S.

A to Z values collaboration, cooperation and can-do attitudes. A to Z Wineworks is an equal opportunity employer. All applicants will be considered for employment without attention to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, veteran or disability status.
